A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Since our founding in 1874, Marcelle has been about formulating products with only what skin needs - leaving out unnecessary or harmful ingredients like fragrance and allergens. While it wasn't called "clean beauty" at the time, it was always our guiding principle - that our formulas should only contain ingredients that are tried and tested to be effective and safe for skin.
We are glad to see this principle gain more and more prominence among beauty users and beauty brands under the "clean beauty" banner, though what clean actually means has been somewhat lost in the process. So, we decided to go ahead and list out in detail what clean means for us.

THE INGREDIENTS THAT WE PROHIBIT
To ensure that our products are safe and respectful of your skin, we have chosen to exclude certain ingredients, as we believe they may be unnecessary or even harmful to the skin in the long term. We prefer alternatives that are safer, gentler and more respectful of your health.

OUR CLEAN PRODUCTS
ABOUT OUR OTHER PRODUCTS
While not all of our products meet our clean standard yet, they all abide by ourfounding and most important commitment to offering only hypoallergenic and fragrance-free products.
Still, we will continually to revisit our formulas (and our clean definition) to make sure they keep up with the latest scientific knowledge and of course with the needs of our dedicated beauty and skin care lovers. We are dedicated to ensuring that our rigorous quality and safety standards respect or exceed Health Canada’s regulatory norms.
